5 Mistakes That Kill Your Local Visibility on Google

Mistake #1: Not having a Google Business Profile

This is the most common and costly mistake. Without a Google Business Profile, you'll never appear in the Local Pack (the 3 results with the map) or on Google Maps.

The solution is simple: create your listing for free at business.google.com and fill it out 100%.

    Mistake #2: Inconsistent information (NAP)

Your Name, Address and Phone (NAP) must be strictly identical everywhere: on your website, your Google listing, directories, social media...

An address written "12 Commerce Street" on your site and "12, Commerce St." on Google creates an inconsistency that the algorithm penalizes.

    Mistake #3: A slow, non-responsive website

Google favors fast, mobile-friendly websites in its results. If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load or displays poorly on smartphones, you're losing positions and customers.

Test your site on Google's PageSpeed Insights and aim for a score above 90.

    Mistake #4: Ignoring customer reviews

Not asking for reviews and not responding to existing ones is a major mistake. Reviews are the #1 factor in local SEO.

Set up a systematic process: after each service, send a link to leave a Google review. And respond to all reviews, both positive and negative.

Mistake #5: No local content on the website

If your site doesn't mention your city, county or catchment area, Google doesn't know you're a local business.

Include geographic mentions in your titles, descriptions, tags and content. For example: "Plumber in Montpellier" rather than just "Plumber".

    How to fix these mistakes?

The good news is that all these mistakes are fixable. A local SEO audit can quickly identify issues and implement a concrete action plan to improve your visibility.
